Progress - with pics, as promised!

Well, I am finally finished (almost!) with my crocheted cell phone/ID carrier. I crocheted it with that yummy Noro yarn I picked up last week. It is a bit larger then my phone, but I will also be carrying my driver's license, debit card, etc., so I wanted the extra room. I was going to also post a pic of it with the phone but since I am using that to take the pics with, the logistics just weren't working out! LOL

This evening, I will be adding a button to the front for the closure.

I found this pretty Batik fabric that I will use to make a lining with two separate spaces - 1 for the phone and 1 for the "cards". I will not have time to get the lining completed before we go to the concert tomorrow. That will have to wait until I get back. I do plan on using it however. I think it will look perfect with the fuschia shirt I am going to wear.

The reason why.....

Well, here is why my crafting had come to a screeching halt. I have to wear this for at least 4 more weeks!

However, even with the evil brace on, I managed to work on my little project involving that yummy Noro yarn. I will take and post pics of my progress when I take my lunch break. sshhhhh! I'm working - really I am!

Jonesin....bad!!!!

I decided to check out a wonderful yarn shop on my lunch break today. It is called Yarns to Dye For in Hendersonville NC. They have such a huge, wonderful selection of hand dyed fibers!!! I want to "create" so bad!!

I purchased one skein of some fairly spendy, yummy yarn to make myself a little pouch for my cell phone and ID with a long strap, that I can wear to an upcoming show hubby and I are going to.

(The pics in the late afternoon, winter light do not do the colors justice.)

It is a lovely blend of silk, mohair and wool.  I figured that I could "limp" through a small project like this even with my tendonitis, right?

Lo and behold! I took my wrist brace off while sitting in my office today and neglected to put it back on before I left for lunch......so..... I get back to work and my hand/wrist is killing me! Does it hurt from driving without the brace or because my little brain knew I had a crocheting project in the works!! ARG!

                         *bangs head against wall repeatedly!*

Saw the doctor today....

Apparently I have tendonitus in my hand/wrist and not a cyst. I got a cortizone shot and a really serious looking brace that I have to wear for six weeks. He said "if it hurts, don't do it"...... so, my crafting life is on hold......WAH!!!! I am not a very happy camper and am in pain.......Might as well go and eat worms!

Well, you didn't think I meant the real kind, did you?

well, poop!

This Ganglion cyst that I have on my dominant hand/wrist is really throwing me for a loop! I am in constant pain and have very limited mobility and use of my hand. I see a doc on Monday and I am hoping that he can just drain (aspirate) it and give me a shot of cortizone to fix me up for a few months. I do not want surgery until the summer due to insurance/financial reasons. This is seriously limiting my "crafting" which in turn "seriously affects my mood!" Please send prayers, good thoughts and vibes my way. Thanks!

Time to be brave....

Well, I thought it was about time to post my progress on my latest little adventure. While I am still not happy with it and nowhere near close to finishing it, I thought this would be a good place to document my attempts - Here is my little barn owl. (sorry about the lighting - I am at work - working, really I am!)

Now, don't laugh!! As I said, it is a work in progress....

I still need to stuff it tightly and then stitch him closed. I drew all the pattern pieces and am basically designing as I go. Still not sure I like it - kind of looks like E.T. to me.....  *shrug* I will post pics as I go along...if I can keep from ripping it out and starting over! LOL

Happy New Year & finally - pics of the rest of my projects!

Well, the feasting and the festivities have come to a close and I finally have a few minutes to post pictures of the rest of my crochet projects. I want to start the new year off fresh, so here they are!

First is a basket and coaster set that I made for my sister.....

(the basket has pretty crystal beading around the top)

Another hat for a grandchild (Arg! fuzzy pic!)

A hat for my youngest son
(have to find a new model now that the decorations are put away!)

A neck warmer for his fiance' (gray with yellow trim)

A ruffled scarf for my boss

A neck warmer for my niece, which she kindly modeled for me. (Love you L! Sorry the pic is a bit fuzzy)

Another neck warmer (hard to tell but it is gray with blue trim)

A neck warmer for me! Can't tell from the pic but the yarn is yummy!(same yarn as my boss' scarf)

A new dish cloth for my kitchen

And last but certainly not least, a plastic bag holder. (I have to pick up after my doggie so these bags come in handy!)

Obviously, I am not a photographer! I also made an ear warmer for my hubby and coasters for his mom......I have one more hat to finish up and then I can give my very sore hand a much needed break! Time to move on to other (non crocheted) projects. I will keep you posted as the plans progress!
