Did some sewing yesterday....

I FINALLY made myself an apron! I have been wanting one for the longest time but it is just one of those things I never got around to. I did not use a pattern - I just made some measurements on myself and the cut away. The fabric is left over from the cafe curtains I made for our dining area - very bright and cheery! I love it!

What did you all do this weekend? You can post your finished project here on Quilt Story's Blog- http://quiltstory.blogspot.com/    I did! :o)

Happy, busy bee!

I have been very busy getting the house in order as well as finishing a little project for my visitors that are coming in today! My Son2, DIL and Little Miss "A" will be spending the weekend with Grammom and Papa before they head off to Northern Italy for 4 years. I made this little project for "A" - I found the pattern here - http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/2011/01/its-fluffy-its-stuffy-its-a-bunny.html ! I modified things a bit and hand stitched everything instead of using my old crusty machine. (I can't wait to pick up my new Baby Lock!) Without further ado - here she is! I think she is pretty cute even with her lopsided head and wonky smile! LOL

The yoke of the dress called for felt but the cheap craft felt I had was not strudy enough - so I crocheted mine out of cotton yarn and attached buttons....
The pattern did not call for a felt "face plate" (for lack of knowing the correct term!) but I liked the way it looked on the lavender.....
Her dress is reversible. The inside fabric matches her ears. Cotton yarn for the tail.....

I hope "A" likes her and has fun "changing" her dress. (She is at that stage where she dresses her baby dolls.)
I promise to post pics of my wonderful weekend (that is - as long as I have their blessing to post their pics on the www)

Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend my Bloggy friends!

P.S. I upcycled the lavender fleece from one of my shirts and everything else was leftover from other projects! I love it when a plan comes together!  :o)

One little finished project...

Next weekend, Son2, DIL and Granddaughter "A" will be visiting before they move away to Italy for 4 years. "A" is 3 1/2, but she will undoubtedly start losing her baby teeth while away. So Grammom (me!) made a little tooth fairy pillow for her parents to take on their journey.
I drew the pattern myself and the top curves are a little jagged, but then, teeth are not perfectly rounded, right?!

I did not want to stuff her too tightly as it might hinder the Tooth Fairy's ability to get little teeth out of the pocket. The pocket material is a leftover piece from the quilt I made for her when she was born. The pocket looks a bit large but you never know what wonderful treasures the tooth fairy may leave!
I am an absolute amatuer when it comes to embroidery so the little smile is a bit primitive and I was not successful in hiding my ending knot! LOL

The eyes were purchased from Kutz on etsy, here - http://www.etsy.com/shop/kutz?ga_search_query=kutz&ga_search_type=seller_usernames (sorry-not sure how to add a link!)

Anyway, almost finished with my other project for Little Miss A......more about that later. It was a busy weekend!

Progress - with pics, as promised!

Well, I am finally finished (almost!) with my crocheted cell phone/ID carrier. I crocheted it with that yummy Noro yarn I picked up last week. It is a bit larger then my phone, but I will also be carrying my driver's license, debit card, etc., so I wanted the extra room. I was going to also post a pic of it with the phone but since I am using that to take the pics with, the logistics just weren't working out! LOL

This evening, I will be adding a button to the front for the closure.

I found this pretty Batik fabric that I will use to make a lining with two separate spaces - 1 for the phone and 1 for the "cards". I will not have time to get the lining completed before we go to the concert tomorrow. That will have to wait until I get back. I do plan on using it however. I think it will look perfect with the fuschia shirt I am going to wear.

Time to be brave....

Well, I thought it was about time to post my progress on my latest little adventure. While I am still not happy with it and nowhere near close to finishing it, I thought this would be a good place to document my attempts - Here is my little barn owl. (sorry about the lighting - I am at work - working, really I am!)

Now, don't laugh!! As I said, it is a work in progress....

I still need to stuff it tightly and then stitch him closed. I drew all the pattern pieces and am basically designing as I go. Still not sure I like it - kind of looks like E.T. to me.....  *shrug* I will post pics as I go along...if I can keep from ripping it out and starting over! LOL

What I did over the weekend...

I did a little crocheting.....

Here is my pretty dishcloth. Almost makes washing the dishes fun!

Here is the swiffer pad I made - not sure how it got dirty on the top, since you use the bottom!

Here is the bottom - eeewww! It sure is dirty. Good thing these are washable and reusable. I better get busy and make a few more, so I can wet mop all of the doggie dirt up!

A little bit of tea stained muslin drying in the sun on this gorgeous Fall afternoon! Can't wait until it is dry so I can start on the "treasures" it will become! :o)
